Fruits and
Vegetables - the real "Real thing"
Eating
healthy doesn’t have to be a chore. It
can be the means to becoming enlightened
in mind and body. Consuming real food,
food that was grown from the earth is
not just for sustenance, it’s a way to
know God more intimately. Fruit is God’s
candy. It’s actually designed to attract
us, satisfy our taste buds and feed us
the necessary macronutrients we need to
sustain life.
Think about it this way, which came
first, Cherry flavored coke, or
cherries? Why settle for an imposter
laden with chemicals that will hurt you,
when you can have the original that is
designed to help your skin stay soft,
your teeth stay white and strong, your
muscles regenerate and your brain work
more efficiently?
Let’s call a spade a spade; laboratory
created sugar is a drug. It actually
hits the blood stream faster than
heroine! It’s metabolized the instant it
hits the tongue.
“In the twentieth century US tobacco
companies altered the chemical
composition of their products to
increase consumption- creating life long
customers by getting children addicted
to specific brands of processed tobacco.
Recent legislation has forced Big
Tobacco to curb some of these
activities, but they weren’t out of the
game long. Now they have purchased major
brands of addictive foods.” (Pilzner)
In other words, large multinational
corporations actually pay scientists to
create chemicals that will get you
hooked for life, and it’s legal. There
is a war waging for control of your
taste buds, so be aware.
Think about it this way: how many
apples, bananas or oranges could you eat
in a row before feeling full? On the
contrary how many cans of coke can some
people consume in a day? Some of my
clients claimed to consume 7 or even 8
cans (350-400 grams of “sugar”) each day
before changing their behavioral habits.
“High Fructose Corn Syrup (the sweetener
found in most sodas) is chemically
altered not to register with your body
once you have had enough. You feel the
need to keep consuming, much like an
addiction to cigarettes.” (Pilzner)
If you aren’t motivated by the health
aspect, then consider the financial
implications. Who would you rather be
the recipient of your hard earned money,
Coca-Cola or local, organic farms? Who
do you think will be the best steward of
your investment? Coca Cola is partly
responsible for the cavities in our
teeth and the toxins in our blood.
Pesticide free farms are responsible for
feeding our minds and bodies with
delicious food that rejuvenates us from
the inside out.
No matter how good science gets it will
never be able to emulate the real, “real
thing.”
